Bison

One of two identical medallions on the fireplace of the

Nebraska Governor’s Reception Room.

This design is was the inspiration for the book title  Prairie Deco.  The design takes the natural head of the majestic American Bison and transforms it into an Art Deco masterpiece, replete with corn, and geometric curls of the buffalo’s fur.  This is one of Lawrie’s most remarkable designs.

As in his other works, Lawrie incorporated regional elements of flora and fauna into his designs, to make them personal to those who live in Nebraska.
