These are the colossal eagles atop pylons on the Harrisburg Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Brigde, now called the State Street Bridge. Maybe they forgot it was a memorial.

Lawrie states that he didn’t intentionally make them Egyptian in character.  Art Deco was greatly influenced by the discovery of King Tut’s tomb, whereby a great deal of design was caught up in the excitement of the discovery, and the beauty of its designs.
