On the north facade of the Los Angeles Public Library, we see the Philosopher on the left, and the Poet on the Right. Some have called the poet, “Poesy,” but no name is given for the philosopher. Between these two stoic figures, we see the seal of the Great State of California,

IN 1969, THE FOUNTAINS ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE LIBRARY WERE REMOVED TO PAVE PARADISE AND PUT UP A PARKING LOT.

THE WELL DISAPPEARED FOR 50 YEARS. THEN, IT TURNED UP IN AN ANTIQUE SHOP IN BISBEE, ARIZONA. WELL, HALF OF IT ANY WAY. THE OTHER HALF IS STILL MISSING.
