Lawrie’s Eagles: they symbolize patriotism.
During his career, Lawrie largely worked on liturgical projects from 1895 until around 1920, but he also worked on many secular, civic buildings. The eagles he designed here appear nationwide, from Los Angeles, to Nebraska, to Louisiana, to Pennsylvania, Connecticut to New York State.
